A/N: Has HHPAY and TLATOJL characters. I own nothing in this story except Kyra, Sloane, and Damion. This does NOT comply with my other fanfic!
Ami sat in her room, which was in her new apartment in Orchid Bay. She sat there, sipping a cup of coffee and writing a letter. This is what that letter said:
--Yumi, you're my best friend... But you're also arrogant, rude, dishonest, and all-around mean! All you care about is yourself. You called me a whore. Well, I'm not the one running around town battling everyone for their boyfriend. Or in your case, anyone you can get. You're desperate. Desperate because you know you can't find a boyfriend, nor could you keep one if you found one. You can't even keep your best friend. You can't keep anyone, my dear friend, which is why you deserve to be alone. You treat people like crap 24/7, even me. For someone who's 16, you sure act immature. You act like a whiny little brat, which is what you are. It's fucked up that you cut yourself when you are sad. How does it help? You're just inflicting pain on yourself... Not anyone. You say pain is the only thing that helps you get through the day, or maybe you should snap out of it and stop hurting yourself. I'm worried about you, Yumi. You hate emotional pain, yet you cut yourself when you get down some... And I know you're a better person than that. Yumi, it's been a month since we last talked, and even then it was all arguements, and tears. You really hurt me, Yumi. You hurt me more than you think... Alot more. If you weren't so goddamn stubborn, we could still be best friends... You could've told me what was bothering you and I could've helped you. You can tell me anything Yumi. Just tell me, so I can keep you from bouncing off the walls when you get down. Yumi, no offence, but you have some issues and you need professional help. I hope you get to read this letter, I hope it reaches you before you hurt yourself...Please, just relax more when you're sad, or angry. I hope you know I've been so concerned about you that I can't sleep at night, and sometimes I cry myself to sleep. I know things have been messy between us, heck, I feel it's my fault, but I wanna change things. I don't want you to cut yourself anymore... I love you like a sister. You're like family. I hope you know that. Hit me back, Yumi... Sincerely yours, Ami. --
Ami folded the letter and put it in an envelope. She put one stamp on it, wrote the adress and their names, and sealed it. She put on her boots and her jacket and stepped outside. "I'll put this in her mailbox, she'll get it right away" Ami thought. She walked slowly down the street, through the cold rain, in the middle of the night. At Yumi's house, she was slightly hesitant to put the letter in the mailbox, but she still did. She wrang the doorbell, and ran out of the yard. Yumi opened the door, but saw no one there. She glanced at the mailbox and pulled the letter out. "Urgent, please read...With Love, Ami" She read the words jotted on the envelope. She set the letter on the table, and flicked on the television, but immediately turned it off, seeing that one of their music videos was on. The good old days, when they were friends. When they were a band. When they had fallen for the same boy, but in the end, didn't let it get in the way of their friendship. Those days were gone, and truthfully, Yumi found it painful. She frowned, and picked up the letter, and read it.
Yumi crumpled the letter up and threw it at the wall. She laid back on the couch, hands behind her head. She stared at the ceiling. "Damn..." She said. Kaz came in from the Kitchen. He had been staying with Yumi for a few weeks. "Yumi, what's wrong?" He said, a slight hint of concern in his voice.
"Nothing, okay... Just go. Get lost. Go stay in a hotel for the night. I'm sick of you being here. There's no band, we don't need a dumb manager anymore!" Yumi snapped.
Kaz stared at Yumi. "Yumi, are you gonna be okay?"
"I said get lost!" Yumi screamed, jumping off the couch. Kaz left, but before he did, he whispered "If you need anything, please call..."
Yumi drops to her knees. Tears fall from her eyes. She looks up at the wall, to see a picture of her and Ami at a party, celebrating one of their CD's. They were smiling in the picture, as Yumi was looking cool, and Ami had her arm wrapped around Yumi's shoulder. "Little too much to drink, Ami?" Yumi joked, but it didn't help how she was feeling right now.
~ My tea's gone cold, I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window, and I can't see at all
And even if I could it would all be grey, with your picture on my wall
It reminds me that it's not so bad, it's not so bad ~
Those words flowed through Yumi's head. She glanced at the scars on her wrist. She snarled at herself. "What the hell have I done?" She asked herself. Yumi laid back on the couch. "Naw, what am I thinking? I did nothing wrong. It's that messed up bitch, Ami, who is making me think like this" With that final thought, she fell asleep.
The next day, Yumi sat in a restaurant, and drank a glass of soda. A girl, about 15, approached her. "Hey, hun, you look a little down..." The girl said. Yumi glanced at her. She seemed to dress similar to Yumi. She wore a black t-shirt with a skull, that exposed her stomach, black jeans, and her hair was shoulder length, straight, and blonde, with a few pink streaks in it.
"Hm..?" Yumi looked up at her "Are you a waitress?"
"No... I just saw you sittin' here, lookin' all down. I thought I might be able to help you. You look like you need someone to talk to" She explained, sitting across from Yumi.
"Thanks, I guess... I'm Yumi" Yumi told her.
"My name's Sloane... Pleasure to meet you" Sloane said. Yumi smiled, but Sloane could sense the pain in her smile. "So what's wrong?"
"Nothing...Really, I'm fine. It's just, well, me and my best friend have been fighting" Yumi said.
Sloane leaned back in her chair. "Ah, I see. Tell me, are you depressed?" Sloane asked.
"No. Why would you think th--" Yumi shifted her gaze towards her wrist. Sloane nodded. "Is that a cry for help?" Sloane asked.
Yumi stared into Sloanes dark green eyes. "I don't need this shit from you dildos anymore!" She said, holding back tears.
"I'm only trying to help!" Sloane argued.
"Well no one should fucking care what happens to me!" Yumi screamed, now standing up, and nearly knocking everything off the table. Everyone in the restaurant stared. Parents covered their children's ears; elderly people shook their heads and barked out comments about 'kids these days...' and various other things. The restaurant's manager came out of his office.
"Ma'am, I'm gonna have to ask you you to leave" He said, pointing to the door. Yumi walked toward the door. "Burn in hell!" She screamed, stomping out.
